 24 June 2009 I was out today on a long recce as far as Ben MacDui, looking for birds and plants and generally having a good look around. There are one or two very special and rare breeding birds and I wanted to see if any were about. However, I hadn't quite expected the shock of seeing a Chinook stooging around the area. |

4-5 June 2009 Snow is now lying on the Cairngorms, down as low as 600m and more is forecast. My work on the plateau is suspended during weather like this so I grabbed the opportunity to head off on a long-awaited trip to Raasay with friends Hugh and Marlene, to visit the bothy at the northern tip of the island. |

Every year I try to find a calm forecast to bivvy out on the plateau during May or June. Right at the end of May that opportunity presented itself and I made the necessary preparations to head up the hill with sleeping bag, bivvy bag and camera. |
