As a small business, MES will have a limited effect in its efforts to reduce environmental and social injustice. However, I do not believe that this a sufficient excuse, under any circumstances, to abdicate what I see as our responsibilities as global citizens. I therefore attempt to put into practice the following principles in all aspects of my life, including in my professional capacity within MES.
1. At all times I will endeavour to be informed about the environmental and social impacts of my own activities and, to the extent that I am able, those of my clients. 2. I will actively resist involvement with people and organisations that practice or believe in social inequality and injustice. I will always endeavour to deal equally and justly with everyone with whom I have contact. I will not buy goods or services from organisations that I know to promote social injustice. 3. I will endeavour to minimise my environmental impacts, in as far as this is possible within the social framework of our society. I will promote environmental sustainability in the services I offer and will try to deliver this message to my clients. I will not buy goods or services that I know to be environmentally damaging if a less damaging alternative is available. 4. I will strive every year to reduce my own ecological footprint and impact on our planet’s resources. These 4 principles will be applied to all areas of activity – energy, transport, waste, working environment, home environment, buying goods and services and leisure. |
