How I conduct my business
I endeavour always to be scrupulously honest and truthful in all my activities and business dealings. That means that I will always tell you if I don’t have specific or adequate experience or if I am unsure that I can deliver something. I will never intentionally mislead a client. If I fail to deliver the expected service then I will always try to remedy the situation at the earliest opportunity. I expect to be treated in the same manner by my clients. I will not continue to deal with clients who mislead me, attempt to influence my judgement or fail to pay me promptly for services rendered.

I am a member of the Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management and a Chartered Environmentalist. This requires me to adhere to a Code of Professional Conduct, which can be viewed in full by clicking here .

The main objects of the Institute are to:

  • “Advance the science and practice of ecology and environmental management for the public benefit in the United Kingdom and internationally;
  • “Further the conservation and enhancement of biodiversity and maintenance of ecological processes and life support systems essential to a fully functional biosphere;
  • “Further environmentally sustainable management and development;
  • “Promote and encourage education, training, study and research in the science and practice of ecology, environmental management and sustainable development;
  • “Establish, uphold and advance the standards of education qualification and conduct of those who practice ecology and environmental management as a profession and for the benefit of the public.”

The general professional obligations of members that are relevant here are such that they shall:

  • “Ensure that no action on their part is inconsistent with or harmful to the objects of the Institute in the Memorandum of Association of the Institute….or brings the Institute into disrepute;
  • “Maintain high standards of awareness of new developments in ecology and environmental management. Members are required to conform to the Institute’s requirements for Continuing Professional Development;
  • “Act honestly in their dealings with others during the discharge of their professional duties.”

I fully endorse the Code of Professional Conduct and will endeavour always to meet all its requirements. I am very interested in developing professional standards within the industry and I am a member of the Scottish Section Committee of IEEM. Further information can be found on the website by clicking here .

In addition to the standards set by IEEM under which I operate, I have my own policy of environmental and social responsibility. I will endeavour to meet its requirements in all my professional dealings as I also do in my own personal life.
